Bajaj has introduced the Chetak Urbane, a new variant of its electric scooter in India. Prices start at ₹ 1.15 lakh for the standard version and ₹ 1.21 lakh for the Tecpac-equipped variant (all prices, ex-showroom). The Chetak Urbane shares a similar price point with the Chetak Premium however, it features significant differences beneath.
Starting with the braking system, the Chetak Urbane offers a drum brake upfront, distinguishing it from the Premium variant equipped with a disc setup. Despite featuring the same 2.9 kWh battery, the Urbane has a slightly lower range of 113 km compared to the Premium's 126 km as per IDC standards. Additionally, the Urbane comes with a 650W power charger, extending the charging time to 4 hours and 50 minutes, in contrast to the Premium's 800W charger that takes 3 hours and 50 minutes. The scooter features a monoshock setup at both the front and rear.
In terms of performance, the standard Chetak Urbane shares a top speed of 63 kmph with the Chetak Premium. However, the Tecpac-equipped Urbane can increase this speed to 73 kmph. While the standard Urbane model features only a single ride mode and limited app-based functions, the TecPac enhances the Urbane model with two riding modes and advanced features such as hill hold, reverse mode, and a comprehensive smartphone connectivity package. This package includes tamper alerts, Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, and other functionalities, providing an upgraded and connected riding experience. Notably, sequential turn signals remain an exclusive feature of the Chetak Premium.
Bajaj's new Chetak Urbane is competitively priced with the Chetak Premium and introduces distinctive features in braking, charging, and advanced connectivity through TecPac. This variant offers a blend of affordability and enhanced capabilities.
