The ground-up new bike is the sportiest 125 cc offering from Bajaj Auto.
Action in the 125 cc space has increased over time and the latest entrant in this segment is the Bajaj Pulsar N125. It’s the smallest member in the Pulsar N series and has been launched at ₹94,707 for the base variant, whereas the top variant will set you back by ₹98,707 (both prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Delhi). The base Pulsar N125 gets LED headlight and disc brake at the front, while the top-spec variant features Bluetooth connectivity. The new Bajaj bike competes with the TVS Raider priced between ₹95,500 to ₹1.04 lakh and the Hero Xtreme 125R which retails for ₹95,800 to ₹99,500 (ex-showroom).
The most unique aspect of the Pulsar N125 is its styling, the sharp and sporty lines are unlike any we have seen on other Pulsars and even in the N series. The LED headlight gives it a distinctive face while the fuel tank shape and the tank extensions make it visually appealing. The overall form of the Pulsar N125 is very athletic and not bulky like most Pulsars. In fact, the styling and form factors are reminiscent of the Pulsar 135 LS. It’s available in multiple colour options depending on the variant one purchases. Both the variants feature a small LCD instrument console, with the BT variant getting call and message alerts. However, a big miss is turn-by-turn navigation. The top-spec variant also gets a start-stop system.
Coming to the engine, the Pulsar N125 is powered by a new 124.58 cc, single-cylinder engine delivering 11.8 bhp and 11 Nm. The power output is on par with its rivals in this segment and it gets a 5-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. Bajaj claims a top speed of 97 kmph and a fuel efficiency figure of around 55-60 kmpl. The chassis has been redesigned and this has resulted in a massive weight loss of 19 kg in comparison to the Pulsar NS125 as the new Bajaj bike weighs in at just 125 kg. It employs a telescopic fork and a monoshock unit to handle damping duties, whereas stopping power is courtesy a combo of disc and drum brake setup. A big miss from Bajaj is the lack of a single-channel ABS variant, which is available on the Hero Xtreme 125R.
