Here are some details and expectations about the upcoming largest Pulsar
Bajaj is set to launch its biggest Pulsar motorcycle yet – the Pulsar NS400 – tomorrow, and they've just dropped the final teaser before the big day. We'll be providing detailed coverage, including pricing and any available variants. Here's what we've confirmed from teasers and spy shots, along with some expectations for the bike.
In terms of design elements, the front features S-shaped DRLs revealed in the teaser. Flanking these is a projector headlight, which could be a bi-LED setup. Sharp cuts and creases give the NS400 a more aggressive look than other Pulsars in the lineup. The radiator guard offers a mix of textures, with a faux carbon fibre finish and a brush metal panel behind, contributing to the bike's sharp and sporty stance.
Leaked images reveal the NS400 will be the first Pulsar to have a full-color LCD-TFT instrument cluster. This will be a significant upgrade over the standard LCD clusters found on other Pulsars.
The feature-packed display offers a reverse LCD-type layout with a bar-style digital tachometer and fuel gauge flanking a central speedometer. Essential information like gear position, clock, side stand status, traction control, odometer, trip meter, and ride mode (Road, Sport, Rain, Off-road) are all readily viewable.
The cluster also features Bluetooth connectivity allowing riders to pair their phone for incoming calls, missed calls, message alerts, phone battery status, and network signal strength. A small square-shaped LCD to the right likely displays turn-by-turn navigation information. Additionally, it will have visual information for the controls of ride modes, ABS settings, and traction control.
The biggest highlight of the Bajaj Pulsar NS400 is its 400cc engine. Initially, we expected Bajaj to use the engine from the Dominar 400. While it will still be a 373 cc unit, it is likely to be brought over from the KTMs, the biggest giveaways being the lack of an upswept double barrel exhaust and lack of a triple spark plug setup. This engine could produce the same 43.5 bhp and 37 Nm of torque as seen on the current-gen KTM 390 Adventure and RC390.
Based on the teasers and spy shots we've seen, the Bajaj Pulsar NS400 can be confirmed to have an USD fork. These appear to be a smaller unit compared to the ones on the Bajaj Dominar 400, resembling the 37mm USD fork recently introduced on the N250. The bike is expected to utilise the same perimeter frame that will house the 373cc engine but with revised steering geometry for sharper handling. Spotted in the teaser, the monoshock is paired to a box-section swingarm, rather than the cast aluminium swingarm seen on KTM motorcycles and the Dominar.
Finally, the alloy wheel design on the Bajaj Pulsar NS400 resembles the one on the N250, but with a key difference: the front brake disc rotor is mounted directly to the wheel. This setup, similar to newer KTM RCs, allows for larger rotors. However, unlike the radial callipers used on KTM RCs, the Pulsar NS400 employs an axially mounted calliper. This suggests that Bajaj may prioritise highlighting a larger disc size in marketing materials, while using a less expensive axial calliper design thereby cutting corners.
Bajaj is expected to play yet another masterstroke with the pricing of the NS400. We think it will arrive at ₹ 2.30 lakh - ₹ 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Thus, it will make the Pulsar NS400 the third Bajaj-produced street-focused bike in the same price range after the Triumph Speed 400 and the KTM 250 Duke.
