Beeper Mini is experiencing widespread outages.
Beeper Mini, the popular Android app that allowed users to access Apple's iMessage messaging service, appears to be experiencing widespread outages.
Beeper Mini, created by a 16-year-old developer, gained significant attention last week for its ability to connect Android devices to iMessage through reverse-engineered code. It allowed Android users to enjoy features like blue text messages, high-quality media sharing, and end-to-end encryption, normally exclusive to iOS users.
However, just days after its launch, Beeper Mini stopped working for many users who could not send or receive iMessages. The app's developer has now taken the step of deregistering all Android phone numbers from iMessage on behalf of users.
Beeper Mini - fix coming soon

Our fix for Beeper Mini is still in the works. It’s very close, and just a matter of a bit more time and effort.
In the meantime, we have deregistered your phone numbers from iMessage so your friends can still text you. Sorry, you’re temporarily a…
Beeper Mini acknowledged ongoing outages in a statement but implied Apple may be responsible, saying a fix is "coming soon." However, Apple claims it took steps to protect users by blocking techniques that exploited fake credentials to access iMessage, citing potential security and privacy risks.
Apple's full statement reads: "At Apple, we build our products and services with industry-leading privacy and security technologies designed to give users control of their data and keep personal information safe. We took steps to protect our users by blocking techniques that exploit fake credentials in order to gain access to iMessage. These techniques posed significant risks to user security and privacy, including the potential for metadata exposure and enabling unwanted messages, spam, and phishing attacks. We will continue to make updates in the future to protect our users."
With Beeper Mini no longer functioning and phone numbers deregistered from iMessage, Android users have lost what was perhaps the most promising solution for bridging messaging between the Apple and Android ecosystems. While the app caught attention for its ingenuity, its future was uncertain, given Apple's history of guarding its walled gardens.
Last month, Apple announced that it will integrate support for the Rich Communication Services (RCS) standard into iPhones starting next year which will officially bring messaging features between iPhone and Android users
