This is the first time that the Leoncino badge is neither a scrambler nor a naked bike.
Straying away from the norm, Italian motorcycle brand, Benelli has ushered in the new Leoncino Bobber 402. Making it the first time that the Leoncino badge represents neither a scrambler nor a naked bike – the new Benelli Leoncino Bobber 402 was unveiled officially at an exhibition in Chongqing.
Although built around the same steel frame that also accommodates other Leoncino models, Benelli has gone a different route with the new bobber. It boasts a more muscular stance, and the seat height is quite low and accessible, thus making it look more of like a cruiser, rather than an out-and-out Bobber. There’s a distinct retro vibe to it as well, however, if you take a look at the rectangular LED headlight, coupled with those flanked-out LED turn indicators, and the bar-end mirrors, the Benelli Leoncino 402 sticks out as quite the premium affair.
Suspension duties of the bike are carried out by USD fork and twin-shock absorbers. The overall weight of the Leoncino Bobber 402 is also quite light at 170 kg, especially when you factor in the fact that it gets a massive 15-litre fuel tank. Nestled inside the frame is the brand’s 385 cc, V2 engine that is good for 35 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 36 Nm at 4,500 rpm. The engine comes paired to a 6-speed gearbox, and Benelli says that the new Leoncino Bobber 402 can reach a maximum speed of 152 kmph. The readings for the same can be found on the TFT display, along with standard traction control, which are the only two highlights in the feature section.

With its official unveiling already taking place in China, Benelli is expected to make its global debut later at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan. Whether or not it will make it to India remains quite debatable. Despite being on sale in India, the Benellis haven’t really enjoyed much preference among Indian riders, except for a dedicated few. Plus, Benelli would have to export the new Leoncino Bobber 402 to India, which would shoot up its asking price significantly – which in turn would shoot its main selling point of being an affordable bobber/ cruiser.
