The 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 engine has been in production for over 20 years.
Nearly two years after the Batur coupe made its debut, Bentley has unveiled the convertible version of the limited-run grand tourer. The Bentley Batur Convertible is limited to just 16 units worldwide.
The Batur Convertible is also the last hurrah of the venerable 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 engine producing 740 bhp and 1,000 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Bentley also mentioned that the entire exhaust system of the Batur Convertible is made from titanium and the exhaust tips have been 3D printed from titanium as well.
Cosmetically, the Batur Convertible looks very similar to its coupe sibling apart from the convertible roof. Speaking of which, Bentley claims it can open or close in 19 seconds and at speeds of up to 50 kmph. Bentley has given the Batur Convertible a ‘Barchetta’ style airbridge that sits behind the seats. The tapered cowls also provide a cover for the luggage compartment behind the seats.
Bentley said the customisation options on the Batur Convertible are endless, thanks to its Mulliner bespoke program. Bentley also mentioned that customers will be able to select any colour and finish to make the car unique. Inside, the 3D-printed Rose Gold accents can be seen on the drive mode selector and the start/stop button surround and can also be applied to the steering wheel.
The Batur Convertible will be handbuilt at Bentley’s factory in Crewe, England over several months. The Batur Convertible is the last Bentley to use the brand’s W12 engine, which has been in production for over 20 years. Since it first came out, the W12 produces 40 per cent more power and is 25 per cent more efficient.
The development car (as seen in the pictures) has a two-tone finish with the top part getting a gloss finish and the bottom a satin finish. Bentley calls the colour Vermillion, which is a shade of orange. The grille and alloy wheels also get orange accents. Inside, it gets an all-black theme with orange accents on the seats, luggage compartment behind the seats, doors, gear lever, steering wheel and the dashboard.
