The change to a two-year cycle will give industry participants more time to develop innovative mobility solutions for display.
The Bharat Mobility Global Expo will now take place on a biennial schedule after briefly switching to an annual format in 2025 according to reports. With this in purview, the next edition will now take place from February 4-9, 2027. It will maintain the same format as the 2025 edition, with activities spread across three key venues: Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Yashobhoomi in Dwarka, and the India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida.
Reportedly, this return to a two-year cycle has been decided to to allow stakeholders sufficient time to develop and present more advanced mobility technologies. Even event organisers want to broaden the expo's reach by including more international partnerships and expanding exhibits across different mobility ecosystems.
The shift to an yearly format had occurred as India surpassed Japan to become the world's third-largest car market. The most recent Auto Expo aka the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, held from January 17-22, 2025, witnessed quite the popular footfall in all three venues. It showcased 239 product launches, with emphasis on electric vehicles, sustainable mobility solutions, and smart transportation technologies.
At the same time, auto shows have been losing steam off late. In 2024, the Geneva Motor Show was cancelled indefinitely due to difficult market conditions and lack of manufacturer interest. Similar instances have also been noticed with other auto shows, and whether the newly rechristened Bharat Mobility Global Expo faces a similar fate or not, remains to be seen.
