BleSmart is in negotiations with the Indian division of Uber Technologies to provide between 800-1,000 electric vehicles for the Uber Green service.
BluSmart Mobility is currently converting its electric vehicles (EVs) to operate under the Uber Green brand in Bengaluru, following the recent investigation into Gensol Engineering on allegations of EV loan misappropriation. The company is in negotiations with the Indian division of Uber Technologies to provide between 800-1,000 electric vehicles for the Uber Green service, according to sources familiar with the arrangement, as report by NDTV Profit.
The rebranding process has already begun, with visual evidence showing BluSmart vehicles being transformed into Uber Green vehicles at Bengaluru airport. A local taxi driver provided photographic confirmation of the ongoing conversion, the report added.
An on-site investigation at BluSmart's Sarjapur charging facility in Bengaluru revealed approximately 200 vehicles sitting unused. Drivers have reportedly been instructed to cease accepting ride requests for several days while an "audit" takes place.
According to an email sent to drivers on Wednesday: "Due to vehicle audits, operations will be temporarily halted for the next few days starting tomorrow. As soon as the audit is completed and operations resume, you will be called back immediately. You will receive a message for slot booking."
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) recently issued restrictions against Gensol Engineering's founders, Anmol Singh Jaggi and Puneet Singh Jaggi, prohibiting them from maintaining executive positions in their publicly traded company and participating in securities markets during the investigation period.
