Hot on the heels of introducing the X3 xDrive20d M Sport Shadow Edition, the Indian arm of the German carmaker has now launched yet another Shadow Edition, but this time, to its 2 Series Gran Coupé, in the form of BMW 220i M Sport Shadow Edition. Priced at ₹46.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the new 220i M Sport Shadow Edition joins the line-up as the most expensive petrol offering. As a petrol derivative of the 2 Series Gran Coupé, the new BMW 220i M Sport Shadow Edition brings several cosmetic tweaks to the exterior and interior while retaining the same powertrain option.

These include a blacked-out grille, Adaptive LED Headlights with darkened inlays, an all-black rear spoiler and a floating hub cap featuring the BMW logo. Inside, the interior comes equipped with sports seats with electrical memory function, ‘Illuminated Berlin’ Interior trim, carbon gear selector and a host of BMW ConnectedDrive technologies. The 220i M Sport Shadow Edition also retains the 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a 10.25-inch Control Display as part of the standard equipment.
Under the hood is the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that develops 187 bhp and a maximum torque of 280 Nm at 1350-4600 rpm. The car accelerates from 0 -100 kmph in just 7.1 seconds. All this power is transferred to the front wheels via an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission or paddle shifters if required.
In terms of safety features, the 220i M Sport Shadow Edition comes with a suite of aids such as six airbags, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Electric Parking Brake with Auto Hold, ISOFIX child seat mounting and integrated emergency spare wheel under the load floor.
