The iX1 is the fourth electric BMW in the country and also the most affordable in its EV range.
BMW India is on a product onslaught, especially with expanding its EV portfolio in the country with the introduction of the new BMW iX1 electric SUV in the country at Rs. 66.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India), making it the most affordable electric BMW in the country. Based on the BMW X1 platform, the iX1 is the fourth electric BMW in the country after the BMW i4, BMW i7, and BMW iX SUV. At present, the BMW iX1 rivals the Volvo XC40 Recharge as well as the Volvo C40 Recharge in the country and will be sold via the Completely Built Units (CBU) route, with the intention to eventually produce it at its India plant.
The new BMW iX1 electric compact SUV packs a punch with a 66.4 kWh battery paired with a dual electric motor setup, delivering a combined output of 308 bhp and 494 Nm of torque with a claimed range of around 440 km on the WLTP cycle. This electric SUV sprints from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.3 seconds, further enhanced by an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. In India, the company is offering the new iX1 in the xDrive30 M Sport guise.
In terms of styling, there are subtle additions to the exterior design of the EV to differentiate it from the ICE version of the compact SUV. These include a larger grille, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), LED taillights, refreshed alloy wheel designs, and subtle blue accents on elements such as bumpers, headlights, and door sills. Moreover, it also gets blue highlights around the logo and the “I” badge denoting its electric intentions on the grille.
Inside the 2023 BMW iX1, you get a tech-infused cabin featuring a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, wireless connectivity for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, a wireless charging station, and a multi-zone climate control system. Everything is pretty much lifted from the ICE-powered version of the BMW X1.
Additionally, the company is also offering ADAS with the iX1 but most of it is Level 1 stuff such as blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert and more. Safety features include rear park assist, multiple airbags, front collision warning and more, similar to the new BMW X1 compact SUV.
