The BMW G 310 family remains its mainstay and accounts for 88 % of its total sales.
BMW Motorrad is on an onslaught with respect to sales in the Indian market. The German two-wheeler giant announced that it has recorded its best ever year to date sales in our country. BMW Motorrad managed to sell 6,778 units (26 % growth) between January and September 2023, which is a really impressive figure given the premium pricing of its products. With the festive season on the anvil and BMW Motorrad launching a range of premium performance motorcycles, this number will grow quite significantly in the coming months. In fact, it would be interesting to see whether BMW Motorrad India can breach the 10,000 units sales landmark.
Bulk of the BMW two-wheeler sales (88%) in India is based on the G 310 family, which isn’t surprising. Currently BMW offers three motorcycles in the 310 cc family - G 310 R, G 310 RR and G 310 GS. The recently launched BMW G 310 RR has been well-received and it has managed to clock impressive sales figures.
What’s more interesting is that the premium performance motorcycles, which are CBU (completely built-up units) have registered 36 % growth. The BMW GS series remains the most popular brand for the German brand in India as it has sold over 10,000 units of the GS family. BMW recently unveiled the new BMW R 1300 GS adventure bike globally which will make its India debut in 2024. The latest addition in BMW Motorrad India’s portfolio is the new BMW M 1000 R in India at a cool Rs 33 lakh.
