Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “In overwhelming demand since its launch three months ago, X1 has upheld its dominating position within the segment thanks to its commanding presence, highly efficient and dynamic performance, and class-leading tech features. We are glad to introduce the M Sport variant in petrol as well: the BMW X1 sDrive18i M Sport. With this, we add more thrill to the range and a new dimension of joy.”
Visually, the key difference between the X1 sDrive18i xLine and the X1 sDrive18i M Sport is the body kit, as the latter receives M-specific design elements such as the M-specific front and rear bumpers, gloss black slats in the kidney grilles, and M-specific 18-inch alloy wheels. Even the window surrounds and roof rails get black treatment, whereas the variant is also available in M Portimao Blue and Storm Bay Grey exterior paint schemes.
Inside, the X1 sDrive18i M Sport brings in new elements specific to the M body kit. This includes an M Sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, and an anthracite headliner to help differentiate between the two petrol trims. However, the M Sport packs also add electrical seat adjustments for the front occupants. Even the rear seat passengers can increase their legroom mechanically by up to 130 mm.
In terms of features, the X1 sDrive18i M Sport adds only a 12-speaker system tuned by Harmon Kardon, while carrying over features such as a 10.25-inch digital information display, a 10.7-inch control display compatible with iDrive 8 OS, and wireless charging along with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay.
In terms of safety, the BMW X1 sDrive18i M Sport comes equipped with BMW’s extensive driver assistance pack that includes lane departure warning with steering intervention, cruise control with braking function, Automatic Emergency Braking along with six airbags, Dynamic Stability Control including Dynamic Traction Control, Cornering Brake Control, Electric Parking Brake with auto hold, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.
Power in the BMW X1 comes from a 2.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 134 bhp and 230 Nm of maximum torque, which allows it to catapult from 0-100 kmph in 9.2 seconds. It comes paired with a 7-speed Steptronic DCT.
