Horner has been a pivotal figure at Red Bull for approximately two decades, having spearheaded the team since their inaugural F1 season in 2005.
In a seismic shift within the Formula 1 landscape, Christian Horner is set to exit his role at Red Bull Racing with immediate effect. The announcement, made on Wednesday, confirms a significant leadership change as Laurent Mekies, formerly of Racing Bulls, will assume the position of CEO for the Red Bull operation.
Horner's departure marks the end of an era. He has been a pivotal figure at Red Bull for approximately two decades, having spearheaded the team since their inaugural F1 season in 2005. Under his guidance, Red Bull transformed into a multi-championship-winning force in Formula 1. Red Bull won 8 driver's and 6 constructor's championships in these two decades.
The managerial reshuffle also sees a promotion for Alan Permane, currently the Racing Bulls Racing Director. Permane will step into the role of Team Principal for Racing Bulls, filling the void left by Mekies' transition to Red Bull's top executive position.
The focus will now be on how these high-profile leadership changes will impact Red Bull's future performance and strategy.
