BYD and Honor are partnering to integrate smartphones with electric vehicles, creating a unified ecosystem where users can control car functions directly from their phones.
In a new collaboration that could redefine connected mobility, Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has partnered with smartphone maker Honor to seamlessly integrate mobile devices with vehicles.
The alliance aims to create a unified ecosystem where users can control car functions directly from their Honor phones, blurring the lines between personal gadgets and automotive experiences.
The integration leverages Honor's advanced AI capabilities and BYD's DiLink infotainment system, enabling features like remote vehicle unlocking, climate control, and real-time navigation via smartphone apps.
Users will also enjoy seamless media syncing, voice-activated commands across devices, and enhanced safety alerts pushed from phone sensors to the car's heads-up display.
This "phone-car fusion" is powered by Honor's MagicOS and BYD's proprietary cloud platform, promising low-latency connectivity over 5G and satellite networks.
Launching initially with Honor's upcoming Magic V3 foldable phone and BYD's Han EV sedan in Q1 2026, the partnership will expand to more models, including SUVs like the Song L. Early adopters in China will receive over-the-air updates, with global rollout planned for mid-2026, targeting markets like Europe and Southeast Asia.
This tie-up underscores China's push in consumer tech convergence, positioning BYD against rivals like Xiaomi in the EV-smartphone space. With both brands under Huawei's ecosystem influence, expect rapid iterations and ecosystem lock-in for users.
