BYD Announces Partnership With Goodwood Festival of Speed

Chinese automaker BYD has announced that it will be partnering with the Goodwood Festival of Speed (FoS) which will be on July 11-14. BYD and its subsidiaries Yangwang and Denza will be showcasing their vehicles at Goodwood FoS for the first time.

BYD will showcase its new Seal U DM-i plug-in hybrid SUV that was showcased at the Geneva International Motor Show earlier this year. Along with this, BYD will also have the Atto 3, Dolphin and Seal electric vehicles at its pavilion at the Goodwood FoS. BYD will also be partnering with the UEFA Euro 2024 which will be held between June 14 and July 14, 2024. 

Yangwang will debut in the UK with its U8 SUV and U9 supercar. The U8 SUV is an electric SUV that has the ability to do tank turns, like the Mercedes-Benz G-Class electric SUV. Using the DiSus system and a U-turn mode, the U8 can spin 360 degrees on a dime. The U8 is a range-extender hybrid electric vehicle that gets a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine providing power to four electric motors, with a combined power output of 1180 bhp. 

The Yangwang U9 will also be present at the Goodwood FoS and unlike the U8, it is an all-electric model. The U9 produces a whopping 1282 bhp and 1,680 Nm and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 2.36 seconds. The U9 also gets a DiSus-X body control system that allows it to control its suspension travel to up to 75 mm and this system also allows the U9 to make a vertical jump on the spot. 

Along with BYD and Yangwang, Denza will also be present at the Goodwood FoS with its D9 MPV. In 2023, Denza sold more than 1,19,000 units of the D9 MPV in China, making it one of the best-selling MPVs in the country. Denza will showcase the all-electric version of the D9 that will have a 7-seat configuration.
