At CES 2024, Asus showcased its new AirVision M1 wearable display - a pair of smart glasses that promises to deliver an immersive multi-screen computing experience. Ahead of Apple's $3500 Vision Pro headset launch on February 2, Asus wants a piece of the AR wearables market pie, which is expected to begin to take shape this year.
The AirVision M1 features dual FHD Micro OLED displays, each with 1100 nits of brightness and 95% DCI-P3 colour coverage for rich visuals.
These smart glasses use 3DoF positioning to allow users to "pin" screens at fixed positions in their field of view. Combined with the companion app, users can create and move between multiple virtual screens in various formats and orientations.
The Asus AirVision M1 has a wide 57-degree vertical field of view for a more natural experience. It also offers TUV-certified blue light reduction and flicker control for extended use. An ambient light sensor automatically adjusts screen brightness based on surrounding light levels.
The smart glasses by Asus feature noise-cancelling microphones and speakers for remote video chats. It has a touchpad that allows users to control 3D mode, brightness adjustments and more. The sensors onboard the AirVision M1 detect when it's not in use and automatically power it off to conserve battery.
Asus AirVision M1 also supports connectivity via USB-C and DisplayPort. The glasses ship with prescription lenses, a light shield, nose pads and cleaning cloth accessories. Pricing and availability details are yet to be revealed.
