Ahead of CES 2024 in Las Vegas, Dell has unveiled a refreshed version of its XPS 13 laptop. This model is a key competitor to the MacBook Pro 14-inch. Additionally, Dell has introduced new models of the XPS 14 and XPS 16. Powered by Intel's latest Meteor Lake chipset, these laptops are part of the new "AI PC" category, a concept embraced by both Microsoft and Intel.
The incorporation of AI acceleration hardware, known as the neural engine, is a standout feature. Moreover, the laptops come with a unique CoPilot key on their keyboards. This key activates Microsoft CoPilot, demonstrating Dell's commitment to leveraging AI technology. The new Meteor Lake NPU (Neural Processing Unit) is central to this approach, enabling AI applications like Microsoft CoPilot to run more efficiently, without solely relying on the CPU and GPU. These components have also seen significant improvements in power and efficiency, thanks to Intel's latest architecture and ARC level graphics.
The XPS 16, aimed at users seeking high performance, is equipped not only with Intel's Core Ultra SKU but also with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4070 discrete graphics. This makes it a suitable choice for creative tasks such as photo and video editing, as well as gaming.
Dell has also made the XPS 16 model 21% lighter. In the smaller XPS 14, there is now an option for Nvidia GeForce RTX GPUs, going up to the 4050 models. The revamped XPS 13 offers a range of screen options including FHD+, QHD+ touch, and 3K+OLED touch.
While the prices in India have not been announced, in the US they start from $1299, reaching up to $1899. Dell plans to release more details regarding the availability of these devices in the near future.
