CES is a major event in the tech industry but of late, has also become a platform for automotive manufacturers.
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 is just around the corner, taking place from January 7 to 12, 2024. CES is a major event in the tech industry, but of late, it has also become a good platform for automotive manufacturers to showcase upcoming technology. Many automotive manufacturers are participating in CES 2024. Ahead of the event later this month, here’s what you can expect from each participating manufacturer.
Mercedes-Benz will be showcasing its new MBUX Virtual Assistant in Las Vegas later this month. The Virtual Assistant runs on the Mercedes-Benz Operating System or MB.OS which debuted on the Vision EQXX concept and was showcased at the Munich Motor Show on the Concept CLA. Speaking of which, Mercedes Benz will also showcase the aforementioned concept and a camouflaged version of the EQG electric SUV at CES.
The South Korean manufacturer has announced that it will reintroduce the ‘Platform Beyond Vehicle’ (PBV) and launch its PBV business at the tech expo. Kia will also showcase five concept vehicles, the first of which is expected to hit production in 2025. Along with these, Kia will also showcase the EV3 and EV4 concepts as well as the EV9 and EV6 GT.
Hyundai has plans to showcase multiple technologies at CES 2024. As Hyundai Motor Company, it will showcase its plans for a hydrogen energy ecosystem as well as software and artificial intelligence. As Hyundai Mobis, the components supplier, the brand will showcase 20 new technologies that it claims are production-ready.
Hyundai Mobis will also display the Mobion concept car which the brand claims is a platform to showcase its technologies. In the teaser video, it can be seen that the Mobion can turn each wheel by up to 90 degrees to allow a car to slide sideways into a tight parking spot.
The Japanese carmaker has also announced that its pavilion at CES 2024, it will display its new Global EV Series. Honda plans to introduce 30 new EVs globally by 2030 and is targeting two million global sales volume with it. Honda says that along with the EV concepts, it will also showcase “several key technologies that illustrate the significant transformation Honda is currently undergoing.”
Additionally, Honda will also be present at the Sony booth to showcase the Afeela, a collaboration between the two Japanese firms.
The Vietnamese automaker will also be present at CES 2024. Vinfast will showcase a new EV concept, its new VF 3 electric SUV and the Dragonfly electric bike at the expo, along with the VF 9 SUV.
The Italian motorcycle safety gear manufacturer will also be participating in CES 2024. However, Alpinestars has not mentioned what it will showcase at the expo. At CES 2022, Alpinestars showcased three motorcycle airbags.
