However, Citroën hasn’t yet mentioned how it has improved the safety of its latest model.
At a recent media interaction, Citroën India assured that it has worked on improving the safety quotient of the Basalt coupe SUV. The Basalt is based on the same platform as the C3 and ë-C3, which scored abysmally in the crash tests conducted by Latin NCAP and Global NCAP, respectively.

Shishir Mishra, Brand Director, Citroën India said, “We’re pretty sure we have addressed a lot of issues and a lot of improvements have been made especially in the safety of the Basalt.” However, Mishra didn’t comment on how safety has been improved in the Basalt or which new safety features it will pack. He only mentioned that all of this information would be announced at a later date, closer to the launch of the coupe SUV.

While Citroën has announced that it will add a bunch of safety features to its models by June, it hasn't happened yet. These will include ISOFIX seat anchorages and seat belt reminders for all seats with six airbags which will become a standard fitment. These safety features will be added to C3, ë-C3 and C3 Aircross as they only came with two airbags as standard. Furthermore, the C5 Aircross, the brand’s flagship model, already had six airbags and ISOFIX anchorages as standard so it will only see the addition of seat belt reminders for all seats.
