Citroen has launched Cara, an AI-powered assistant, with the Basalt X, with the aim of enhancing commutes with real-time fuel monitoring and route planning.

French automaker Citroen has introduced Cara, its new smart assistant designed to enhance driving with seamless AI integration.

Launched alongside the Citroen Basalt X crossover, the AI assistant has been introduced with the aim of transforming daily commutes into smarter, more personalised journeys.

Cara is a part of the Stellantis-owned company’s "Shift Into The New" campaign.

AI Integration into Everyday Driving

Cara excels in blending into drivers' routines. For instance, in a demonstrated scenario, a user queries: "Cara, I want to drop my daughter to school and go to the office. Do I have sufficient fuel?" The assistant responds by analysing vehicle state, offering real-time fuel monitoring, and suggesting optimised route planning.

This personalised assistance could help with informed decisions on-the-go, making it ideal for busy urban lifestyles.

Key Features of Cara

The assistant boasts an array of capabilities, including continuous conversation for natural interactions, weather knowledge for timely updates, and vehicle expert support for maintenance queries.

It supports multimedia playback, map and navigation, smart reminders, real-time data access, calling and SOS functions, and even emotional engagement with "Speak Your Heart Out."

Launch with Basalt X and Future Rollout

Cara is initially available on the Citroën Basalt X. However, other X-series models will also get it pretty soon. That being said, the company has confirmed that Cara will only be limited to its X-series of models, and will not roll out to other variants.

Cara looks like a nice addition to a brand like Citroen, which is still expanding its footprint in India. However, it remains to be seen how the market reacts to this new feature, and how successful it will be in drawing new customers.
