The Director's Cut Of The Game Is Available For $19.99

Hideo Kojima's new studio has released Death Stranding, its first game, for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This launch follows the announcement of the Director's Cut of the game in September at Apple's iPhone 15 Pro launch event. Kojima is renowned worldwide for his work at Konami, where he created the popular Metal Gear Solid franchise. Originally released in 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Death Stranding was later made available on the PlayStation 5 and PC.

The game revolves around a courier's mission to deliver supplies in a desolate, post-apocalyptic world. Kojima had previously hinted at the release of the director's cut for Mac during WWDC 2023, where Apple showcased its Game Porting tool to encourage developers to create more games for its platforms. Apple enlisted the esteemed video game designer to commit to providing Mac equivalents for all games from his studios. Kojima later returned to Apple's iPhone 15 keynote to present Death Stranding as one of the games highlighting the ray tracing technology in the new A17 Pro chipset powering the iPhone 15 Pro models.

Currently, Death Stranding can be played on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, as well as on an iPad with an M1 or later chipset. It is also compatible with all M series Macs. The game is available at a promotional price of $19.99, reduced from $39.99, and offers a universal purchase option, allowing users to access the game across multiple Apple devices. Additionally, it utilizes iCloud for cross-device progress synchronization, enabling players to seamlessly switch between their Mac and iPhone while retaining their progress.

There is talk that Death Stranding may be turned into a live-action movie. Kojima is also already working on the sequel for the original game, which would also show up on Apple’s platforms given his commitment to Apple. This launch also comes after Apple has shown off ray-traced games like Resident Evil Village and Assassin’s Creed: Mirage. Apple also recently made changes to the App Store where now it allows Game Streaming services to have their entire catalog of games run on its platforms.
