The company targets 20,000 listings as it enters the fragmented pre-owned bike market.
DriveX Mobility has launched DriveX Direct, a new online platform allowing consumers to buy and sell used two-wheelers directly from each other, as the company seeks to capitalise on India's growing second-hand motorbike market. The Bengaluru-based firm rolled out the service on Monday across more than 20 cities in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, with plans to expand to other major cities by year-end.
The move targets what the company sees as a significant gap in India's pre-owned two-wheeler sector. Consumer-to-consumer transactions account for approximately 44% of used two-wheeler sales in the country, but the market remains largely fragmented and lacks reliable platforms. Current options often present challenges for buyers and sellers, including unverified listings, price manipulation, and fraud risks on traditional classified websites. DriveX Direct will offer verification services, AI-driven pricing suggestions, and post-sale support without charging platform fees, distinguishing it from existing business-to-consumer platforms that typically add commission costs.
The service includes guided self-inspection tools for sellers, document verification, fraud detection systems, and assistance with registration certificate transfers. A secure payment system is planned for future release, which will hold buyer payments until documentation is complete and vehicles are delivered.
The platform has attracted notable backing, with former Formula One driver and Padma Shri recipient Narain Karthikeyan serving as a company director. “DriveX Direct is about giving everyday people more control and confidence when buying or selling their two-wheelers. It’s a space where people can deal directly with each other, but with the peace of mind that DriveX is there to assist them at the right moments with right choice. We’re building a platform that’s simple, safe, and genuinely consumer-first,” said Karthikeyan.
Saran Samiappan, head of DriveX Direct, described the launch as addressing "long-standing gaps in the C2C space" through AI-driven tools and verification services. ”Our aim is not just to create a platform, but to empower consumers with the right choice, transparency, and a seamless journey from listing to ownership,” said Samiappan.
The company plans to introduce multilingual support and is considering a mobile application for future development. To encourage early adoption, DriveX is offering free listings for the first 60 days, along with priority access to finance, registration transfers, and insurance services. The company has indicated the free listing period is a temporary promotional offer.
