Porsche’s first-ever electric Cayenne is set to be fully revealed very soon, but prototype testing has already begun for global media outlets.
Porsche’s upcoming all-electric Cayenne has demonstrated impressive performance in early prototype tests. International media outlets have conducted extensive evaluations of the vehicle in the California desert, revealing that one prototype achieved an estimated 563 km of real-world range.
Another tested vehicle delivered an estimated 528 km, positioning the Cayenne EV competitively against established rivals like the Tesla Model X, BMW iX, and Cadillac Lyriq. It is worth noting that these are real world test figures by media outlets, not Porsche’s official claims, which are yet to be revealed.
The impressive range is attributed to a large 113 kWh battery pack, complemented by advanced cooling technology. Porsche has implemented a new double-sided battery cooling system, which is more efficient than those used in the Porsche Taycan and Macan EVs.
This system enhances heat dissipation, crucial for high-speed charging and sustained performance. Additionally, the Cayenne EV features a heat pump, which is more efficient than traditional resistive heaters, optimizing cabin heating in cold weather and further improving overall efficiency.
Porsche is also developing a high-performance version of the Cayenne EV, likely to be named the Cayenne Turbo Electric. This top-tier model is expected to surpass the 1,019 horsepower of the Taycan Turbo GT, making it the most powerful road car Porsche has ever produced.
The vehicle’s interior showcases a new curved infotainment display with integrated Google Maps and a sleek on-screen keyboard, along with a head-up display featuring augmented reality for turn-by-turn navigation.
These advancements confirm Porsche’s capability to compete at the highest level in the EV market, blending impressive range, cutting-edge technology, and unparalleled performance. The full reveal of the new Cayenne Electric is eagerly anticipated in November.
