Visiting twitter.com will automatically redirect users to the x.com domain from now on.

After months of transition, Elon Musk has finalized Twitter's long-awaited rebrand to X. From today, visiting twitter.com will automatically redirect users to the x.com domain, signalling the complete migration of Twitter's core systems and identity. Musk's plans to expand X into new domains, like messaging, payments, and commerce, will now be done under a name that better represents its future as a super app.

Last July, Musk announced plans to rename Twitter as part of his vision to transform the platform into a versatile "everything app." Over the following months, the Twitter app was rebranded as X, tweets became known as posts, and the familiar blue bird logo was replaced with a simple white X.

However, behind the scenes changes, the website address remained twitter.com. That is now officially changing, as Musk confirmed on X that all backend infrastructure has been migrated to x.com.

The domain transition has been lengthy, raising some security concerns due to lingering links to the old twitter.com address. However, for Musk, X.com holds significant personal importance as the name of his original online payments company, which later merged with PayPal.

With the final switch to x.com complete, Twitter has entirely shed its old identity and branding. However, only time will tell if users embrace the changes or remain attached to Twitter's legacy.
