The new Harley-Davidson Sprint will be positioned as an entry-level bike and will be priced under $6,000 (₹5.25 lakh).

Harley-Davidson’s new CEO Jochen Zeitz made a big announcement in his debut investor call meeting. Zeitz confirmed that the iconic American motorcycle manufacturer is developing a new entry-level bike which will make its debut in 2026. The new offering will be called the Harley-Davidson Sprint. Apart from the name, no further details were shared but Zeitz did confirm that the pre-production bike will be showcased to dealers in October 2025. This leads us to speculate that the same might be unveiled globally at the 2025 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan later this year. What’s interesting is that the Harley-Davidson has been under development since 2021 and a cruiser version based on the same platform will be launched next year as well. The upcoming Harley-Davidson motorcycle will be powered by a twin-cylinder engine and the displacement could be between 500-800 cc.

The Harley-Davidson Sprint will be positioned as an entry-level bike in its international portfolio and will be priced under $6,000 (₹5.25 lakh). The American bikemaker already has an entry-level product for the Indian market in the form of the X440, but it’s only limited to India. Then there’s also the Harley-Davidson X350 and X500 built in collaboration with Benelli. The new Sprint will be more on the lines of the Harley-Davidson Street 750 and Street 500, which was launched at the 2014 Auto Expo. The Street 750 was Harley’s first attempt at creating an affordable bike in the new millennium. To keep cost competitive, the bike was built in India and while initial response was great, it failed to maintain sales momentum and was discontinued.

“Inspired by our heritage and the spirit of the iconic Harley Davidson Sprint motorcycle, this new bike embodies boldness, irreverence and fun, capturing the rebellious energy that defines the Harley-Davidson experience. Scheduled for release in 2026 and for presentation to our global dealer network in October, I’m pleased to share that we’re targeting an entry price below $6,000 We believe this motorcycle will not only be highly accessible, but also profitable, marking a significant step forward in driving Harley-Davidson’s future profitable growth and opening up a new path in motorcycle segment for the company in future years for its key markets.” commented Jochen Zeitz, Harley-Davidson CEO.

The Harley-Davidson Sprint has an uphill task at its hand as it will have to play a crucial role in reviving sales for the American brand. The company has been struggling with dwindling sales and one of the key reasons is the high starting price of its international portfolio. Whether or not the Sprint can help change Harley-Davidson’s fortunes in the future remains to be seen.
