Likely to take on the upcoming 750 cc Royal Enfields.
In an exclusive interview with Acko Drive, Anupam Thareja, co-founder of Classic Legends, shared a scoop regarding the future engine strategies being considered. Amongst them all, a mid-sized twin-cylinder engine platform is in the works. However, there is no clear timeline or cubic capacity details shared yet.
“We have many more engine strategies (in the pipeline). We have a 650. We have a mid-size twin,” said Thareja to Acko Drive. But he quickly followed it up with, “Do we put it (into a motorcycle)? Have people experienced this beauty (referring to the new Yezdi Roadster with its 334 cc Alpha-2 engine)? I don’t think so.”
If there is a plan for the twin-cylinder engine, it should be in the 700-750 cc segment. Considering Classic Legends likes to show off its modernness as much as its heritage, expect this upcoming motor to be liquid-cooled and hopefully, with electronic riding aids. Royal Enfield is also developing a 750 cc engine platform, which is derived from the current 650s, but these will not be as technologically advanced, featuring air-/oil-cooling and perhaps no riding aids.
While Thareja has shied away from giving us a timeline, we think that the twin-cylinder bikes from Classic Legends will likely arrive in either late-2026 or early-2027.
