The new FASTag Annual Pass system will be launched in India on August 15, 2025.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will launch the FASTag Annual Pass in India on August 15. Ahead of that, the annual pass has been listed on the NHAI website, giving out key details about the new FASTag system. The Annual Pass is touted to make highway travel easier for passenger vehicles that use it frequently.

Instead of paying the toll every time, the new pass will allow users to pay a one-time fee and use the highways for either a fixed number of trips or for a fixed amount of time. The government is proposing that the FASTag Annual Pass will cost ₹3,000 and is valid for either 200 transactions or one year, whichever is exhausted first. On a point-based toll plaza, a to-and-fro trip will be counted as two transactions, whereas on a closed tolling fee plaza, a pair of entry and exit will be counted as one transaction.

First and foremost, the Annual Pass will only be valid on toll plazas on National Highways and National Expressways operated by NHAI and not on state-run tolls or expressways and roads operated by private agencies. The FASTag Annual Pass is intended for non-commercial vehicles, including private cars, jeeps, and vans.
While it is available for existing FASTag customers, there are a few conditions. The FASTag must already be installed on the windshield of the car. It should also be listed to the Vehicle Registration Number and not the chassis number. Lastly, the FASTag must not be blacklisted or flagged for any disputes.

The FASTag annual pass can only be purchased through NHAI’s official channels, such as the NHAI website or through the Rajmargyatra app. NHAI also states that the Annual Pass is not mandatory and that the current system will continue to operate.
