The 2024 season is set to witness over 1650 girls participating across various international venues.
In a landmark move to promote gender equality in motorsport, Formula E, in collaboration with the FIA, has announced the significant expansion of the "FIA Girls on Track" programme for its 2024 season. This initiative, designed to empower and involve more girls in the world of motorsport, will now feature at all 11 race weekends of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, marking a considerable rise from the previous year's five race weekends.
The 2024 season is set to witness over 1650 girls participating across various international venues, including Mexico City, Diriyah, Hyderabad, São Paulo, Tokyo, Misano, Monaco, Berlin, Shanghai, Portland, and London. This expansion underscores Formula E's commitment to fostering a more inclusive environment within the motorsport arena. The enhanced "FIA Girls on Track" programme incorporates several notable features:
A groundbreaking opportunity for participants to be part of the victory podium ceremonies at each race, visibly championing female inclusion in motorsport.
Immersive work experience placements within the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship ecosystem, offering hands-on insights during race weeks.
Interactive workshops and career talks, engaging at least 100 girls at each race track and a further 50 at local universities in every race market, respectively.
Educational resources on Formula E’s website, providing guidance on essential skills and career paths within motorsport, along with details on future programme activations.
The unveiling of a refreshed brand identity, coinciding with the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship's rebranding at the outset of Season 9, aimed at better resonating with and representing the women involved in the initiative.
A continued engagement with former participants, enhancing their educational journey and understanding of various career opportunities in the field.
“We are ecstatic to elevate 'FIA Girls on Track' to a new echelon, setting a precedent for sports organisations in educating, upskilling, and integrating the next generation of female leaders into their workforce. Our ethos of taking bold, innovative steps aligns seamlessly with our steadfast commitment to gender equality. The growing presence of women in the paddock, who have advanced through this programme, accentuates its effectiveness and the importance of continuing to expand its reach. Like other sports, we must accelerate our efforts to advocate for gender equality worldwide,” said Julia Pallé, Vice President of Sustainability at Formula E.
"I am delighted with the return of the 'FIA Girls on Track' programme for the significant tenth season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The FIA Women in Motorsport Commission remains dedicated to increasing female participation in all facets of motorsport. This programme represents an ideal platform for introducing young girls and women to the sport and the myriad of career opportunities it offers,” added Deborah Mayer, President of the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission
