US EV behemoth expands retail presence following Mumbai launch; Aerocity centre to serve as north India sales hub.
US electric vehicle giant Tesla will open its second Indian showroom on August 11, this time in the national capital, after its first outlet in Mumbai last month. The development was announced through Tesla's official handle on X (ex-Twitter) with a teaser tweet that said, "Arriving in Delhi – stay tuned," accompanied by a graphic indicating the brand's arrival in the capital.
The Delhi plant will be set up in Worldmark 3, Aerocity, a premium commercial complex close to Indira Gandhi International Airport. Tesla has rented out 8,200 sq. ft. of space from Oak Infrastructure Pvt. in a deal, as per numbers from real estate analysis firm CRE Matrix. Ltd., for nine years, a basic rent of ₹17.22 lakh per month (₹210 per sq. ft.) with 15 per cent rent escalation every 36 months. The lease was also registered on July 30, 2025.

Tesla's Delhi store follows just short of a month from the time the company opened its first India showroom at Maker Maxity Mall, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai, on July 15, 2025. Besides the Mumbai store space, Tesla also recently opened the doors to its first supercharger facility in the same BKC complex.
Outside of retail, the company is enlarging its operating infrastructure: it has taken on a 33,000 sq. ft. property in Gurugram's Orchid Business Park on a nine-year lease registered on July 28, 2025, as a service centre cum sales outlet. The Gurugram premises fetch a base rent of ₹40 lakh per month with an annual increase of 4.75 per cent and a three-year lock-in.
Although Tesla has not announced any functional or design variations between the Delhi and Mumbai stores, the Aerocity showroom is likely to feature and take orders for the Tesla Model Y, the sole model available for purchase in India at present. Deliveries and registration are currently restricted to Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram, according to Tesla's official website.

The Tesla Model Y comes in two trims:
• A Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD)– ₹59.90 lakh, with 455 km claimed range and 0–100 kmph in 6.9 seconds.
• A Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (LR RWD)– ₹67.90 lakh, with 622 km range and 0–100 kmph in 5.6 seconds.
Tesla's FSD package, offered as an add-on, costs ₹6 lakh extra. Six colours for the exterior are on offer, with Stealth Grey being the sole no-cost option; all other finishes have a premium. Interior colours come in white or black with a default five-seat configuration.
The Model Y is also offered with eight exterior cameras, enhanced driver-assistance hardware, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seating, and a power tailgate. Tesla's supercharge network supports quick charging to 267 km of range in 15 minutes on the LR RWD variant.
Aerocity's location near upscale neighbourhoods, business districts, and the international airport may make it a prime contact point for both local consumers and foreign travellers who are familiar with Tesla's global reach. However, the ₹60 lakh-plus sticker price on the imported Model Y means Tesla's initial volumes will be limited to niche customers until local manufacturing or assembly brings costs down.

Deliveries of the Model Y in India will begin in the third quarter of 2025. Though Tesla has not yet revealed more models or an unequivocal plan for localisation, increasing retail and service network suggests a long-term intention. The August 11 launch in Aerocity will be both a brand unveiling and a test case for the appeal of Tesla in India's crowded luxury EV market.
