Genesis took centre stage at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show with the global debut of two new concept vehicles: the X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible. Revealed at the Kintex convention centre under the theme “Unfold a New Era of Genesis,” the concepts signal the brand’s evolving design direction and ambitions in the high-performance luxury segment. The unveiling coincides with Genesis’ 10th anniversary, a milestone marked by a global customer base of more than 1.3 million. The Korean luxury automaker used the occasion to articulate its vision for the next decade, one that emphasises emotionally driven design, cutting-edge technology, and sustainability.
Both concepts are derivatives of the Genesis G90, the brand’s flagship sedan. The X Gran Coupe Concept reimagines the luxury four-door coupe with a focus on elegance, athletic proportions, and performance aesthetics. It features an elongated hood, wide front intakes, and Genesis' signature Two-Line headlights that extend into the fenders, visually widening the stance.
The X Gran Convertible Concept takes a more expressive route, offering an open-roof interpretation of the G90 with design cues that aim to connect drivers with their environment. The beltline stretches rearward to define the transition between body and roof, while the lowered roofline and raked windshield contribute to a sportier silhouette.
Both vehicles share design hallmarks: frameless, lengthened doors for easier entry, flush glass areas for cleaner visuals, and widened fenders that contribute to their assertive presence. Aerodynamic wing sections and detailed lower body treatments emphasise their dynamic stance.
The wheels — a focal point in each design — vary in execution. The Convertible uses a five-star motif with sculptural depth, while the Coupe sports a layered, double-spoke arrangement that enhances its aggressive profile. Both designs benefit from a widened track that supports a performance-focused stance.
At the rear, smoothed-out surfaces create clean visual lines, interrupted only by horizontal accents and dual exhaust outlets. The iconic Two-Line taillights return, along with touchless trunk operation and retractable rear-view cameras — nods to Genesis’ high-tech aspirations.
Interior themes further differentiate the two concepts. The X Gran Coupe draws from the Mediterranean landscape, with olive wood veneers, olive leaf-inspired ambient lighting, and naturally tanned leather derived from Italian olive oil production wastewater. Floor mats, overhead quilting, and crystal accents draw from natural textures and colours, reinforcing the luxury theme while integrating sustainable materials.
The X Gran Convertible, meanwhile, evokes the vineyards of Italy, finished in a rich grape-inspired hue both inside and out. The cabin makes use of crystal elements that reflect light and contrast with soft-touch surfaces to create a refined, monochromatic visual experience.
