Godrej has announced its new top-of-the-line Advantis IoT9 connected smart lock for homes, priced at ₹67,900 in India. This model is designed to be flexible and easy for multiple people to use in various situations, with a number of additional features including junk character entry to deter anyone spying on the user, and two-factor authentication for even greater security. Godrej also offers at-home security consultation and installation for customers anywhere in India.
As its main selling point, there are nine ways in which to use the Advantis IoT9 smart lock. There is a physical key, which will always function as a backup in case digital access methods are not usable. Users can unlock their door using the Godrej app over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, a smart wearable, a fingerprint, a PIN, an RFID card, a remote fob, or a voice command. Multiple methods can be required in order to bolster security.
As with most smart locks, users can set up different PINs for different people, and set up access profiles so that they can only use the lock within limited time spans. Access can be withdrawn at any time and there is a full log of which PIN or other access method was used at what time. The log is saved to Godrej’s private cloud service, and the company states that this will always be available with no subscription charge, with data security guaranteed.
Two RFID cards are included with the lock, and more can be issued by Godrej if needed. A remote key fob can also be used within a short range, allowing people to open their doors for visitors without getting up. Visitors can use the lock’s integrated doorbell.
A “spy code” feature allows users to tap garbage characters before and after their PIN to prevent other people from learning it by watching them tap it. If a user returns home after a long absence, or misses successive low battery alarms and notifications, there is a USB Type-C port so that the Advantis IoT9 can be powered up using a standard power bank.
The Advantis IoT9 lock can integrate with a home security system and a video door phone. Alexa and Google Assistant are supported for voice commands in multiple languages. A small USB-powered home hub which bridges the lock with a home Wi-Fi connection is included in the package.
