Bard has stepped into AI image generation, powered by Google's Imagen 2.
Google has announced significant upgrades to its conversational AI chatbot Bard, giving it new capabilities that position it as a strong competitor to other leading chatbots. With the latest update, Bard has stepped into AI image generation, powered by Google's Imagen 2 model, which offers a balance of quality and speed for high-quality, photorealistic outputs.
Google Bard users can now describe an image concept and get customized photorealistic visuals generated in real time. While initial results quality is expected to improve over time, Bard offers this ability completely free of charge, which is a major advantage over competitors like ChatGPT Plus, which requires a paid subscription.
Bard also leverages Google's latest multi-modal AI model, Gemini Pro, allowing for more advanced language understanding across over 40 languages. Previously, Gemini Pro was only available through Bard for English conversations. Its expanded language support means more users worldwide can benefit from Bard's improved reasoning, summarization and coding skills.
Google emphasizes it has designed these new generative capabilities with responsibility in mind. The images produced by Bard will contain digital watermarks to distinguish them from human works. Technical measures also aim to prevent outputs containing violence, offensive material or recognizable individuals without consent.
Google has also introduced ImageFX, an experimental photo tool powered by Imagen 2. Users can create images through simple text prompts, contributing to generative AI exploration. In addition, MusicFX, a text-to-music experiment, and TextFX, a tool for creative writing, have also seen improvements.
