Google is expanding its Gemini AI chatbot to over 150 countries, including India.

Google has announced a major expansion of its artificial intelligence-powered chatbot Gemini globally. The Mountain View giant is now rolling out the Gemini app to over 150 countries and territories beyond its initial US launch.

The Android app was initially launched in the US on February 8th but will now reach a much larger audience. Indian users can now access Gemini through the dedicated Android app to engage in AI-driven conversations. While there is no standalone iOS app, iPhone owners can enable Gemini through a new toggle button within the Google app.

The expanded availability aims to bring the innovative features of Gemini, such as human-like conversations, to a diverse global user base. The chatbot is currently accessible in English, Korean, and Japanese to cater to major global markets.

To use Gemini, Android devices must run Android 12 or later and have at least 4GB of RAM. iPhone users on iOS 16 or newer can enable the feature via the Google app toggle. The rollout began this week and will continue over the coming days to provide seamless access to Gemini worldwide.

The app expansion comes after Gemini's head, Jack Krawczyk, revealed ongoing work to enhance the chatbot's image-understanding abilities while ensuring protections are in place. More regions and features are being developed as Google aims to build its human-AI interaction capabilities through projects like Gemini.
