GTA VI’s release has been delayed to November 2026, with no PC launch confirmed. Rockstar faces criticism over staff dismissals, while analysts still predict record-breaking sales for the game.
Rockstar Games has announced a second delay for Grand Theft Auto VI, pushing the highly anticipated game’s release to November 19, 2026. This delay is intended to give developers additional time to refine and polish the title.
Following the announcement, Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, saw its stock drop by 14% in after-hours trading, before recovering slightly to close at a six percent loss. This marks the second postponement for GTA VI, which was previously rescheduled for May 26, 2026.
The extended development timeline is drawing comparisons to Red Dead Redemption II, which also experienced multiple delays before its eventual release.
The delay has raised concerns among PC gamers, as Rockstar has not yet confirmed a PC version of GTA VI. Historically, the company has launched PC editions well after the initial PlayStation and Xbox releases.
For instance, GTA V arrived on PC two years after its console debut, while Red Dead Redemption II followed with a 13-month gap. Based on this pattern, a PC release for GTA VI may not occur until late 2027 or 2028.
Rockstar has also faced criticism recently after dismissing 30 to 40 employees, a move the company attributes to leaks of confidential information. However, the Independent Workers of Great Britain (IWGB) claims the affected staff were union members or organisers, and has staged protests demanding their reinstatement and back pay.
Despite these setbacks, analysts expect GTA VI to become one of the biggest entertainment launches ever, potentially generating up to $8 billion within two months. Take-Two has confirmed that GTA V has sold over 220 million copies since 2013, making it one of the best-selling games of all time.
