Kia India today announced the appointment of Gwanggu Lee as its new Managing Director and CEO, effective immediately. Lee will be the third managing director and CEO of Kia India and he will be succeeding Tae Jin Park. Park is retiring after a 36-year tenure with Kia Corporation, out of which four years were with Kia India.
Gwanggu Lee has over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry. He has held leadership positions in various capacities in both developed and developing economies. His last role as the president of Kia Mexico saw him play a very pivotal role in establishing the brand as a production and export hub. Aside from that, Lee has also worked in in the US, Canada, Italy, and Kia headquarters in Central and South America.
With Kia India, Lee will focus on “fostering sustainable business growth” of the brand in the country. “ My vision is to unlock the next phase of growth through inspiring Kia brand experiences thereby creating more value and long-lasting impact for our customers, partners, and employees alike,” said Lee about his appointment.
Kia India is now gearing up for the price launch of the updated Sonet. The sub-compact SUV was already unveiled last month and pre-bookings for the same have also commenced.
