Despite the same underpinnings, the Hero Mavrick 440 has a completely different persona compared to the Harley-Davidson X440.
After several teasers and much anticipation, Hero Motocorp has finally unveiled its most premium motorcycle as of yet - Mavrick 440. While a lot is common between the Harley-Davidson X440 and itself, the Hero Mavrick 440 has a completely different persona, in terms of style and features on offer.
The Hero Mavrick 440 will be available in three variants: Base, Mid and Top. The base variant will be available with spoke wheels and in Arctic white colour only, while the Mid variant will be available with regular alloy wheels and two colour options - Celestial Blue and Fearless Red. The Top variant will benefit from diamond cut alloy wheels and two premium black colour options, namely, Phantom Black and Enigma Black.
The Mavrick 440 is powered by the same 440cc motorcycle that Hero Motocorp developed in collaboration with Harley-Davidson for the X440. This air/oil-cooled, 2-valve, SOHC, single-cylinder mill produces 26.9 bhp and 36 Nm, moreover, Hero claims that 90 per cent of the torque is delivered from 2000 rpm onwards. The engine continues to be paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
Moreover, Hero Motocorp has also equipped the Mavrick 440 with a different exhaust compared to the X440. To know more about the how the bike rides, you will have to wait for our first testride review.
Despite sharing the same tubular steel perimeter frame with the Harley-Davidson X440, the Hero Mavrick 440 equips 43mm telescopic fork and dual-shock absorber. We presume Hero has done so to under cut the Mavrick’s price with the Harley-Davidson. Braking duties are taken care of disc brakes at both ends and ABS will be available as standard. The Hero Mavrick 440 also has a seat height of 803mm, unlike the X440 which has a 805mm seat height.
This is where the Mavrick bares some of the major changes. Unlike the full-retro styling of the H-D X440, the Mavrick boasts of a typical roadster-cruiser body. The single-piece seat design is smooth and the dual-tone colour of the seat further amps up its premium quotient. The fuel tank is muscular and curved, which is unlike the squared design of the Harley-Davidson X440.
Similarly, the side panels also look different and their design aptly compliments the curvaceous tank shape. The rear section of the bike has been tapered and raised that sticks to its sporty quotient, and the round headlight continues here as well, however, the DRL design is different from the X440.
Completely new with the Hero Mavrick is the instrument cluster which gets Bluetooth connectivity. The negative display LCD cluster has two sections. While the round section houses the speedometer, odometer, and trip meter. On the side, you’ll find the display for the turn-by-turn navigation, incoming call, miss call, and phone battery. There are also more than 35 features related to safety, security and driving reports, all of which will be displayed via the Hero Connect app on your phone.
Additionally, the Mavrick 440 also gets a full LED package with automatic LED projector headlamp and LED tail light.
The new Hero Mavrick is slated for launch sometime in February (the exact date is yet to be specified) and bookings for the same will also commence at the same time. Deliveries will start from April onwards.
The Hero Mavrick is expected to be priced between ₹2.20 to ₹2.30 lakh. In this price range, the Mavrick will compete against the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350, the newly launched Jawa 350, and of course the Harley-Davidson X440.
