Improving economic conditions coupled with a strong upcoming wedding season will be the main factors for this predicted growth.
Hero MotoCorp’s acting CEO Vikram Kasbekar stated that he expects two-wheelers sales in the country will grow between 5 per cent to 9 per cent in FY26. This upward trajectory will be primarily driven by improving economic conditions, coupled with a solid demand driven by the wedding season in May and June. A good monsoon season will also bring forth a positive impact with income tax relief, and increased government spendings will further help the growth.
Hero MotoCorp maintained its position as market leader, selling 5.9 million units in 2024-25. The firm's profits rose by 17 per cent to ₹4,376 crore last year, whilst total revenue increased to Rs 41,967 crore from ₹38,643 crore the previous year. However, the brand has lost its leadership position to Honda, TVS and Bajaj in April 2025 sales. The Japanese bike maker surpassed the Indian bike maker by selling 1,75,490 more two-wheelers. Moreover, Hero’s commuter motorcycle sales have also been registering a slowdown for the past couple of years.
Speaking to PTI, Kasbekar said the economy had started the year positively despite ongoing global tensions and trade disputes. Hero MotoCorp is also expanding internationally, with its strategy of creating country-specific products for Latin America, Bangladesh and Nigeria showing strong results. Kasbekar said the company was being "quite aggressive" in pursuing growth in overseas markets.
On electric vehicles, the company said it plans to increase sales volumes, expand the business, grow market share and improve profitability in the coming period. This will, in all probability, be primarily driven by the upcoming Hero Vida VX2 range, which was recently teased ahead of its launch on July 1.
