B2B electric scooter signifies the company's strategic focus on the last-mile delivery segment.

Hero MotoCorp is setting its sights on the last-mile delivery market with a new electric scooter design revealed through a patent filing. While the company hasn't officially unveiled the scooter itself, the patent offers a glimpse into a potential future addition to the company’s electric lineup.

The HeroB2B electric scooter doesn’t really comes as a surprise. Hero MotoCorp CEO, Niranjan Gupta had earlier spoken of expanding the Vida product portfolio in FY25 with three new models – a mid-priced scooter, an economically priced scooter, and a B2B offering geared towards last-mile deliveries.

The patented design focuses on functionality for businesses engaged in last-mile deliveries. The patent showcases a sturdy, bright neon yellow double cradle frame likely housing the electric motor, battery pack, and other electrical components. A key differentiator from competitors like Yulu and Kinetic E-Luna is the absence of a floorboard. Instead, the design incorporates luggage racks at the front and rear, hinting at a high payload capacity which might be exceeding 100 kilos – ideal for carrying deliveries.

It might borrow its electric components from the existing Vida V1 range. We could expect the Vida V1's 3.94 kWh battery pack (real-world range of 110 km) and the 6kW electric motor delivering 25 Nm torque. What remains to be seen is whether or not it gets removable batteries which makes good sense on a B2B scooter so as to reduce turnaround time.

While official details remain unclear, this B2B electric scooter falls under Hero MotoCorp's plan for three new Vida models in FY25. We can expect a more definitive launch timeline closer to the fiscal year's end.
