Awarded for creativity and innovation, this EV transforms from two to three wheels in minutes
Hero MotoCorp is celebrating a win for innovation after its electric vehicle (EV), the Surge S32, received the prestigious Platinum “A” Design Award in the Vehicle, Mobility, and Transportation Design category.
The A' Design Award is a well-respected honour in the car design world, recognizing vehicles that showcase exceptional creativity and social benefit. The Hero Surge S32 stands out for its revolutionary design: it can transform from a three-wheeler to a two-wheeler in just three minutes. This unique feature allows riders to adapt the vehicle to different needs and terrains.
Hero Surge S32 seamlessly transforms from a two-wheeler scooter into a three-wheeler cargo carrier in a mere three minutes, making it a perfect fit for self-employed individuals. This innovative design eliminates the need for two separate vehicles, offering a cost-effective solution that caters to both commercial and personal transportation needs.
The core of the Surge S32 is the electric scooter, equipped with LED headlights, indicators, and an instrument cluster. When docked into the three-wheeler shell, the scooter seamlessly integrates, providing the rider with a familiar experience. The three-wheeler configuration adds a passenger cabin with a windscreen, lighting, and optional weather-protective soft doors, transforming the vehicle into a comfortable and functional workhorse. With increased cargo capacity, the three-wheeler is ideal for hauling goods and equipment, while the scooter offers a convenient and manoeuvrable mode of transportation for personal use.
The Hero Surge S32 prioritises both power and efficiency. The two-wheeler configuration utilises a small 3.5 kWh battery and 2 kW motor, offering a top speed of 60 kmph compared to the three-wheeler's 11 kWh battery and 50 kmph top speed with a 3 kW motor.
The Hero Surge's ability to adapt to diverse needs and its focus on both power and efficiency make it a compelling concept. Its success at the A' Design Award suggests that the future of mobility might embrace such adaptable and user-friendly designs.
