OEL's facility maintains an annual production capacity of 6 million devices.
Homegrown contract electronics manufacturer Optiemus Electronics Limited (OEL) and US-based TP-Link and joined hands and established a manufacturing partnership to produce networking equipment and smart home devices locally in India.
The manufacturing initiative includes a comprehensive range of TP-Link's telecommunications and Internet of Things (IoT) portfolio.
At OEL's facility, which maintains an annual production capacity of 6 million devices, the company will manufacture GPON terminals, surveillance equipment, various router categories, modems, gateways, SOHO switches, and additional network expansion equipment.
To strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities, OEL has announced plans to establish a local supply chain infrastructure.
The manufacturing operations are set to commence in February 2025, with domestically produced TP-Link products expected to reach the Indian market by March 2025.
"This collaboration reinforces TP-Link's commitment towards the 'Make in India' vision and bolsters India's resolve to become the global hub for telecom and electronics manufacturing," the companies said in a joint statement Monday.
"We are excited to partner with TP-Link, a globally leading name in networking devices, in line with our strategic vision of forging alliances with global leaders. This marks a significant milestone also for Optiemus, as we enter a new category in electronics manufacturing and move forward in further diversification," A. Gururaj, Managing Director, Optiemus Electronics Limited, said in a statement.
This initiative will focus on producing essential components including power adapters and mechanical parts, with the objective of minimising import dependence and enhancing supply chain management.
