Honda Motor has unveiled the Honda 0 α (alpha) electric SUV prototype at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. The production version of the vehicle will launch globally in Japan and India starting in 2027.
Toshihiro Mibe, President and CEO of Honda Motor, confirmed this during a presentation at the Japan Mobility Show saying, "We are planning to begin global sales of the 0 Alpha mainly in Japan and India in 2027."
The Honda 0 α will serve as a gateway model for the Honda 0 Series lineup, which includes the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV concepts revealed at CES 2025. The company describes it as an SUV that will blend with urban and natural environments.

The vehicle is built on the Honda 0 Series development approach called Thin, Light, and Wise. This philosophy focuses on efficiency through lightweight engineering and packaging design that achieves a low vehicle height whilst maintaining ground clearance and cabin space.
The exterior design features a minimalist front with integrated headlights, charging lid and illuminated Honda emblem. At the rear, a U-shaped lighting signature combines tail lamps, backup lamps and turn signal lamps. The prototype features a wheelbase around 2,750mm, approximately 100mm longer than the Honda Elevate. It also has a wider track by about 20mm for stability.

The interior promises a spacious cabin following Honda's Thin packaging concept with a flat floor layout, connected systems and safety features. Technical specifications including powertrain details and range have not been revealed.
For India, the Honda 0 α will be manufactured locally. It replaces the previously planned Elevate EV project. The vehicle is expected to use a front-wheel-drive layout.

The Honda 0 α will compete in the compact electric SUV segment in India. Its rivals will include the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Mahindra BE 6 and MG ZS EV. The Hyundai Creta Electric starts at Rs 18.02 lakh whilst the Tata Curvv EV is priced from Rs 17.49 lakh.
Honda has not disclosed pricing for the 0 α, but it is positioned as a gateway model suggesting a competitive price point in the segment. The vehicle is expected to be priced around Rs 18 lakh to compete with established rivals.
The India electric vehicle market is projected to grow at 35-40 percent annually until 2027. More than 20 new electric SUVs are expected to launch in India by 2027. The electric SUV segment in India is forecast to grow at 20.80 percent CAGR from 2025 to 2034.
Honda will also bring the Honda 0 SUV to India as a completely built unit import. The Honda 0 Saloon will remain exclusive to international markets.
