Honda has been running its electric battery swap station pilot program for a while now.
At the ongoing Bharat Mobility Expo 2024, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Limited showcased its electric B2B scooter – the Benly:e – for the first time. This utilitarian-looking electric scooter further implements Honda’s Mobile Power Pack of interchangeable batteries aka swappable battery technology, which Honda has been testing in India for the past two years.
The Honda Benly:e is powered by two swappable Li-ion batteries (1.314 kWh each) onboard with a cumulative output of 2.6 kWh. Since the production-spec of the Benly:e is still a few months away, details like charging time and electric motor capacity are yet to be revealed, however, we do know for a fact that it can travel up to speeds of 50-55 kmph.
While the Benly:e has been the test bench for the battery swap program, the real implementation would be for its upcoming India-made electric scooter. Honda had said the first e-scooter was supposed to arrive by the end of the next financial year. So, hoping for some more details to be shared on the product in the coming few months.
