Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) introduced the Honda CBR650R and CB650R E-Clutch variants in India today. The 2025 Honda CB650R has been priced at ₹9.60 lakh while the CBR650R E-Clutch variant will cost you ₹10.40 lakh, The standard variant of the Honda CBR650R was launched earlier this year for ₹9.99 lakh whereas the CB650R was priced at ₹9.29 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi). So the E-Clutch variant carries a premium of around ₹30-40,000 over the standard variant.
Coming back to the E-Clutch system developed by Honda, it isn’t a fully automatic system as it allows the rider to shift back to a manual system if needed. According to Honda, the E-Clutch was designed to reduce rider fatigue in traffic and also avoid engine stalling when the rider engages the first gear. The duo continue to use the same 649 cc, inline-four cylinder motor pumping out 94 bhp and 62.3 Nm. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed gearbox. The inline-four engine is among the key reasons for the popularity of the Honda 650 cc machines. Cosmetically and feature-wise too both the bikes are similar to the standard offering.
Commenting on the launch. Tsutsumu Otani, Managing Director, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, said, “We are delighted to introduce the latest additions to our premium motorcycle line-up - the CB650R and CBR650R - now equipped with Honda’s revolutionary E-Clutch technology. The premium motorcycling space has been experiencing remarkable growth in India, and with world-class products like the CB650R and CBR650R, we are confident they will set new benchmarks for performance and riding innovation. The introduction of E-Clutch is a step into the future, giving riders a unique blend of control and comfort, reinforcing Honda’s leadership in technological advancement.”
Talking about rivals, the 2025 Honda CB650R competes against the Triumph Trident 660, priced at ₹8.10 lakh and the more powerful Kawasaki Z900 priced at ₹9.38 lakh. The fully-faired Honda CBR650R takes on the Triumph Daytona 660 priced at ₹9.72 lakh and the Suzuki GSX-8R which will set you back by ₹9.25 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
