The City Sport Edition will most likely be a cosmetic enhancement over the standard model.
Honda Cars India has teased a new special edition of the City compact sedan. The new special edition will likely be called the City Sport Edition or something along those lines. While there is no confirmation on what this new edition will entail, it will most likely be a cosmetic update. The special edition of the City is likely to launch on June 20.
The teaser shared by Honda shows the lower portion of the City donning Radiant Red Metallic paint. The teaser ends with the line – “Ready to live a sportier life?” – indicating it will be a “sportier” version of the City.
The City Sport Edition could come with a different body kit as well as blacked-out elements instead of chrome. A point to note, the City already comes with the bare minimum chrome as it is only on the grille and door handles. Other blacked-out elements could include black ORVMs, lip spoiler, shark fin antenna and alloy wheels.
What Honda will upgrade inside the cabin remains to be seen, but given how it could black out the exterior, expect a similar treatment inside too.
Mechanically, the Sport Edition will likely remain the same as the regular City. It could come with a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 119 bhp and 145 Nm, mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT. It remains to be seen whether the Sport Edition will be available with the City Hybrid.
The Honda City rivals the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia and the Hyundai Verna. The City and Ciaz only rival the Virtus, Slavia and Verna’s entry-level engines.
