Recall is due to a faulty fuel pump that could develop cracks and lead to engine stalling
Honda Motorcycles has issued a recall for over 20,000 of its Gold Wing, CBR1000RR Fireblade, and CBR 600 RR motorcycles in the United States and Germany. The affected models are from the 2018, 2019, and 2020 model years.
The recall is due to a faulty fuel pump that could develop cracks and lead to engine stalling. Honda says the issue stems from the impeller plastic not being manufactured to the correct specification and potentially cracking when exposed to petrol residue solvents over time.
So far, 142 motorcycles have been identified with the problem. Thankfully, no accidents or injuries have been reported in relation to this issue.
Honda will replace the faulty fuel pumps free of charge for affected owners. The company will begin notifying owners by mail on or around March 8, 2024. Dealers were notified earlier in February.
It is important to note that this recall currently only affects the US and German markets. Honda India is not recalling any models at this time, although they only offer the Gold Wing Tour in our market.
