Honda has expanded its commuter bike portfolio by debuting the new Honda Shine 100 DX. Prices will be announced on August 1, after which bookings will commence, and deliveries will happen in a phased manner. The new Honda Shine 100 DX is mechanically the same as the Shine 100 but distinguishes itself with a refreshed body design and better features. Its direct competitor will include the Hero Splendor+, which has been ruling this segment for eternity now.
The new Honda Shine 100 DX is powered by a 98.98 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 7.28 bhp and 8.04 Nm peak torque, the same as the Honda Shine 100. The engine continues to be paired with a 4-speed gearbox, and with Honda’s (Enhanced Smart Power) technology, will be quite the frugal option in the market.
The new Honda Shine 100 DX is built around the same frame as the Shine 100 and is also suspended by a telescopic fork and dual-shock absorbers. However, the rear suspension gets 5-step adjustability as standard. Drum brakes at both ends handle braking duties, and the 17-inch wheels are shrouded with tubeless tyres.
Feature-wise, the Honda Shine 100 DX gets a fully digital LCD instrument console which will get you information like real-time display of mileage, distance to empty (range), and service due indicator — but there is no Bluetooth connectivity available here, even as an option.
Lastly, the Honda Shine 100 DX gets a completely new headlamp that is complimented by chrome garnishing around the surrounding. The exhaust muffler cover is also of chrome. You can choose the Shine 100 DX in four shades – Athletic Metallic Blue, Geny Gray Metallic, Imperial Red Metallic, and Pearl Igneous Black.
