The Honda Shine series holds 57 % market share in Western India in the 125 cc space.
The Honda Activa has been the bread and butter product for the Japanese brand in the Indian market. But when it comes to motorcycles one name shines above them all for Honda and that’s the Shine. It has consistently been its highest-selling motorcycle in the Indian market and has been the dominant product in the 125 cc motorcycle segment. Given its popularity it comes as no surprise that the Honda Shine series has crossed the 30 lakh sales landmark in Western India (Maharashtra, Gujarat & Goa).
Speaking on this sales milestone, Yogesh Mathur, Director, Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, said, “The achievement of 30 lac customers for the Shine series of 125cc motorcycles showcases the enduring bond between Honda and the people of West who have embraced our motorcycles for their unmatched quality, performance and style. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our loyal customers, dedicated dealers and esteemed partners who have played a pivotal role in reaching this significant milestone. We remain steadfast on our commitment to delivering cutting edge, high-quality products, enriching the riding experience of our customers across India.”
It took Honda 11 years to cross the 15 lakh sales milestone, while the latter 15 lakh sales was achieved in just 6.5 years! This shows how much the 125 cc segment of motorcycles in general has picked up and the Shine continues to dominate it. In the Western India market, Maharashtra has been the major contributor accounting 20 lakh sales. Currently Honda has two variants of the Shine - standard and the Shine 125 SP. The SP variant is a more sporty variant and features a 5-speed gearbox. Cashing in on the Shine brand, Honda also launched the Honda Shine 100 earlier this year, a 100cc commuter bike which is also its most affordable motorcycle on sale in our country.
