The latest patent showcases the same design as that of the Honda ADV, albeit with subtle differences.
Honda is on an all-out offense to capture a sizeable share of the lucrative 350 cc segment, that Royal Enfield has primarily dominated with its portfolio of retro and neo-retro-styled motorcycles.
As part of the new strategy, the Japanese brand has patented several designs, all of which are based on the same platform that underpins the current-generation Honda H’ness CB350 and CB350 RS bikes. The latest patent showcases a scrambler-styled motorcycle, that looks similar to the ADV that Honda patented a few weeks earlier, albeit with a few differences.
For starters, just like the adventure bike, the Honda Scrambler 350 bike boasts the same squarish fuel tank design along with external crash bars-cum-jerry can mounts. The stubby short tail section also looks similar to the Scram 411. Similarly, the round headlight design and the raised handlebar design with footpegs set in a neutral position for upright ergonomics are also visible.
Reports also state that Honda might position the Scrambler 350 as a completely new product, and not be an extension of the CB350 portfolio. However, it has been touted that the bike will be powered by the same 350 cc engine that is also available with the other 350 cc models in Honda’s line-up.
Honda has just patented the design of the bike and we are yet to spot a test mule of the same. But given that the engine and underpinnings will be carried over from its existing line-up, the brand does not have to design anything from scratch. Therefore, the Honda 350 Scrambler will most likely launch by the end of 2024, i.e. third quarter of the year. As for its price, we expect it to be priced between ₹2.25-₹.250 lakh (ex-showroom). In this range, it will have the likes of the Yezdi Scrambler, Royal Enfield Scram 411, and Husqvarna Svartpillen 250 as its competition.
