HP has announced its EliteBook Ultra and Omnibook X laptops for the business and consumer markets in India respectively. Both are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite CPUs and both will be marketed under the Microsoft CoPilot+ banner, which identifies them as Windows 11 PCs with additional AI-enhanced software features and dedicated AI processing hardware. According to HP, these features will make the laptops more personalised and will improve creativity and productivity. Portability and 26-hour battery life are also promised for both.

The HP EliteBook Ultra for business customers is priced starting at Rs. 1,69,934 in India and will be available only in an Atmospheric Blue finish. The HP OmniBook X will cost Rs. 1,39,999 onwards and is sold in a Meteor Silver colour with a sandblasted finish. Both models will be available for purchase on HP India’s online store and at authorised HP World retail outlets.

The EliteBook Ultra 14 G1q and the OmniBook X 14-fe0121QU are both based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite X1E-78-100 chip which has 12 CPU cores, integrated Adreno graphics, and a Neural Processing Unit capable of 45TOPS (trillion operations per second). Both laptops have 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM which isn’t upgradeable, and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD. There’s one USB Type-C 40Gbps port and one 10Gbps port, one USB 3.1 Type-A port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

While both also have 14-inch 16:10 IPS touchscreens with the same 2240x1400 resolution and 100 percent sRGB colour coverage rating, the more consumer-focused OmniBook X features nearly edge-to-edge glass with narrow borders, and Corning Gorilla Glass NBT for protection. Both laptops come with 65W chargers and can charge up to 50 percent in 30 minutes. Both are also listed as weighing 1.34kg.

You also get a full-sized backlit keyboard with a dedicated CoPilot key, a 5-megapixel webcam, and stereo speakers with Poly Studio tuning with each of these laptops. The business-focused EliteBook Ultra supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, and ships with Wolf Pro Security Next Gen Antivirus, while the OmniBook X offers Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

The two new laptop models were first unveiled at Microsoft’s AI Vision event in the US in May this year.  HP also overhauled its consumer PC branding strategy, reintroducing the OmniBook name which has now replaced all of HP’s previous consumer laptop brands.

HP AI companion is a software assistant that the company claims will make PC usage more personalised and can improve creativity and productivity by analysing the contents of a user’s files and data. A Poly Camera Pro utility, from HP’s Poly communications product division, is said to improve virtual interactions by leveraging an NPU’s capabilities to enable background blurring and replacement, auto framing, and more without draining a laptop’s battery.
