The larger Swedish roadster is getting a bit of a flat tracker vibe
Husqvarna has whipped up excitement with a teaser of their upcoming Svartpilen 901. Not one to shy away from fancy lookers, the upcoming roadster has been teased on social media in a camouflaged avatar.
The teaser video showcases the Svartpilen 901 carving up a flat track, highlighting the company’s idea to go slideways with its upcoming creation. The clip reveals the familiar Husqvarna minimalistic design, with its own unique Swedish fuel tank shape. Modernity shines through with all LED lighting.
The bike is a high-performance pseudo-flat tracker built on the same platform as the KTM 890 Duke R, sharing the main frame. The Svartpilen 901 carves its own design with a distinct subframe design.
The swingarm and exhaust routing also resemble the 890, while the braking setup comprises dual disc brakes with radial callipers upfront and a single disc at the rear. Suspension duties are handled by an adjustable inverted fork from WP Suspension and a monoshock.
Thumping at the heart of this beast is likely to be the same 889 cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine from the KTM 890 Duke R, churning out 121 bhp and 99 Nm.
While the Husqvarna Svartpilen 901 gears up for its global launch on March 5, Indian riders might have to admire it from afar. The absence of other large-capacity Husqvarna and KTM models in the Indian market suggests this roadster might remain a distinct dream for now.
Hopefully, someday it clicks and someone in Akurdi does see the potential that large capacity KTMs and Huskies hold in the Indian context. Cause we are ready to race with some elegance.
